Who we are

At the heart of Biblioterre is a commitment to creating a future where land access, food sovereignty, and ecological balance are shared priorities. We are dedicated to fostering equitable and regenerative practices while building relationships rooted in care, cooperation, and respect.

Biblioterre is also home to an affordable housing project, aspiring to offer the opportunity to live close to the land we work and care for. By providing housing near to the place where our food is grown, we aim to create an interconnected community where people can live, grow, and thrive together. This model not only reduces barriers to land access but also fosters a deeper connection between the land, the food it provides, and the people it sustains.

Whether you’re a farmer looking for space to grow, a community organizer eager to host a workshop, someone wanting to connect with like-minded community, or someone passionate about environmental justice, we invite you to join us. We are sharing land, growing knowledge through practice, and building a community that supports one another and the earth.

  • We humbly acknowledge the Land we reside on and offer our gratitude for the generosity of these Lands and Waters. At Biblioterre, our members are committed to sharing this space in meaningful and reciprocal ways with the communities of the Algonquin Anishinabek Nation.

We are honoured to work alongside advisors from these communities. Together, we create opportunities to lead land based projects, host workshops and ceremonies, and foster connections to and on this Land.

Our vision is guided by the Land Back movement, and we are actively exploring pathways toward permanent Land sharing, Land divisions, and Land trusts.

  • Biblioterre began as a group of friends dreaming of alternatives to capitalism, a vision of a community centered on care, sustainability, and equity. Over the years, we’ve grown—welcoming new friends, fresh ideas, and a shared commitment to reimagining our relationship with the Land.

  • At Biblioterre, our work is guided by a shared vision and purpose that connects people to the Land and to one another.

    Vision
We are a land-based cooperative aspiring to demonstrate ecologically sustainable and equitable ways of living. Our vision is grounded in respect for inherent Algonquin sovereignty and cultural revitalization, and a commitment to our shared responsibility as humans toward all life on earth.

    Aim
We aim to provide a Land base for projects that align with our vision while helping individuals and communities explore their role within the natural world. Biblioterre is a place where ideas take root and where people can build deeper connections with the earth and each other.
